The newest Defenestrated Records release is Phykromonies by Michael Thomas Jackson.  For a detailed biography and discography of his material go here It is a 23 minute exploration in vinyl experimentation using  gurgles, scrapes, and jabs that burn through the existing material. These recordings are a sampling of daily exercises in performance from 1988 to 1999.

In Philip’s own words, “The Gong/Ears started with a tour with the Korean shaman Hi-Ah Park and then developed more deeply into year long sessions—and performances—with my to be wife, Phœbe Neville,  expanding into “Cymbal/Ear” (using as it happens a Korean shaman cymbal, gift from another source; and action duets like “Ear/Body” and such variants.  No matter how varied the common theme, expressed in verbal score, is the necessity of a fine awareness linking the participants in a sensitive play of listening and responding.  In effect, a single “composition”, defined largely.  The earlier definition of “Metal Meditations” can be seen as being a part of this—-or this part of it.  Obviously, connecting to their “campanacci” (bells) the cows enter into this play as well—–and just as well.”

They utilized laptops with midi programmed controllers, yamaha keyboard, and various traditional violin-like instruments.  A collaborative palette between each performer was established as the two fed off of the calamity or subtle tone each was contributing to the mix.  This recording is broken into two segments and is around 20 minutes long.

Padgett that existed around 2004 – 2007. This release includes 3 tracks of vocal manipulation, layered black ambient, and noise.  Lush distorted reverb tones create a distant, segmented atmosphere. Blackened vocal patterns are interspersed over top  of guitar and thickened synth tones.  This is to be re-released along with 4 other songs in the end of 2011 in an edition of 100.  Black metal inspired noise.

Comando Bruno is Rafael Flores from Spain. He has been actively involved in the experimental / industrial music scene starting in the early 80′s. This particular recording is made up of 4 pieces, each one sounding as if it was made from highly effected field recordings or tape collages. The first piece is heavy reverb, metallic sounding and cold, the second is more warm sounding, with phasing type sounds moving in and out of the foreground, the third is a shorter work with rumbling cacophony. The fourth has more layering, a meandering synthesizer, oscillating, and a transistor radio’s static filling in space at varying volume depths, The skipping in this track is intentional. This release was originally released on a cd in a poly jacket gatefold with printed artwork and cd-r.

Mariko Sugawara-Minoru (Japan) 5 tracks-over 46 minutes of wild operatic singing, strange clanging synth phrases. Hand recorded sounds coupled with decaying synths click, and slap through rich sonic terrain.
